About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Hasule Inc., doing business as Moffeus ("Moffeus," "we," "us," or "our"), uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit or interact with our websites (including moffeus.com, hasule.com, and any school-branded subdomains), applications, and services (collectively, the "Service").
This Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which provide additional details on how we handle your personal data.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site operator.
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies including:
- Web beacons / pixels — tiny transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to track whether a page or email has been viewed.
- Local storage — browser storage mechanisms (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) that allow websites to store data on your device.
- SDKs & scripts — code included on our pages from third-party providers to enable analytics, integrations, or functionality.
When we refer to "cookies" in this Policy, we include all of these similar technologies unless stated otherwise.
Types of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Service to function. They enable core functionality such as authentication, session management, and security. Without these cookies, the Service cannot operate properly. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies.
| Cookie / Technology | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session credential (localStorage) | Authentication — keeps you logged in | 1 hour |
| Session renewal (localStorage) | Session refresh — renews your session without re-login | 7 days |
| Session cookies | Maintains state during school single sign-on | Session |
| Security tokens | Protects against unauthorized requests | Session |
Functional Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization, such as remembering your preferences, theme settings, and notification choices. If you disable these cookies, some features may not work as intended.
| Cookie / Technology | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Theme preferences | Stores your selected theme (school-branded or default) | Persistent |
| Notification settings | Remembers your communication preferences | Persistent |
| Onboarding state | Tracks your progress in the onboarding flow so you can resume where you left off | Persistent |
Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Service by collecting aggregated, anonymous usage data. This information helps us improve the Service, diagnose issues, and understand which features are most valuable.
| Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Page views, user flows, engagement metrics | Up to 2 years |
| Error monitoring | Crash reports and performance diagnostics | Session |
We may add or change analytics providers over time. This table reflects the providers in use as of the date of this Policy.
Third-Party Integration Cookies
When you use integrations such as Zoom, Microsoft, or Google Calendar through the Service, those third parties may set their own cookies on your device. These cookies are governed by the respective third party's cookie and privacy policies, not this Policy.
Local Storage & Session Storage
In addition to traditional cookies, the Service uses browser localStorage and sessionStorage to store authentication tokens, user preferences, and session state. These behave similarly to cookies but are managed differently by the browser:
- localStorage persists until explicitly cleared by the Service or by you (via browser settings).
- sessionStorage is cleared when you close the browser tab.
Authentication tokens stored in localStorage are essential for the Service to function and are treated as strictly necessary.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several options for managing cookies:
Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find these options under "Privacy," "Security," or "Cookies" in your browser's preferences. Common actions include:
- Blocking all cookies or only third-party cookies
- Deleting cookies already stored on your device
- Configuring your browser to notify you when a cookie is set
Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies or clearing localStorage will log you out and may prevent the Service from functioning properly.
Analytics Opt-Out
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. At this time, the Service does not respond to DNT signals but we continue to monitor developments in this area.
Cookies on School-Branded Subdomains
When you access the Service through a school-branded subdomain (for example, yourschool.moffeus.com), the same cookies and storage mechanisms described in this Policy apply. Cookie data is scoped to the specific subdomain you are using and is not shared across subdomains. Authentication tokens obtained on one subdomain will work on that subdomain only.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, our practices, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when this Policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
